After reviewing our expenses and reimbursement requests, we’re pleased to report that, just like last year, Houpla did not appear to have had any cost overruns. So, the camp has cash on hand to provide full, $50/person performance deposit returns! Thank you to all our leads who kept a close eye on costs and made this possible. We’ll be publishing full, detailed financials for the camp in the coming months as part of our non-profit’s annual report.
Please fill out the form below to request a deposit return. The deadline for filling out this form is October 31st, after which any unclaimed deposits will be donated to the camp.
Deposit Donations and Upcoming Expenses
As we did last year, we’re again going to ask campers to consider donating all or part of their deposits to the camp.
Our arrangement with our warehouse landlord (where we keep our Houpla camp gear year-round) is that, in return for reduced rent, we’ll provide a bunch of labor and materials for some construction projects the landlord has at the warehouse. We need to raise money to meet these commitments, and deposit donations will help greatly with this.
Deposit Return Tests
Need a refresher on our deposit return tests? Please visit our Houpla page and scroll down to “Burning Man 2019 Information.”
Volunteer Hour Reporting
Just a reminder, all volunteer hour reporting below is on the honor system. Please be accurate and truthful as we use the aggregative numbers of volunteer hours to plan for next year. We also plan to sanity check the outcomes of reporting with each team lead.
DGS Tickets
We’re likely going to be make some significant changes to the organization of the camp next year, but the current expectation is that total hours volunteered will again play a key role in DGS ticket allocation.
Dues Discounts
Thank you to our monthly dues-paying members! Your dues help greatly in planning for and paying recurring expenses for the non-profit.
As promised, Gold and Silver members of HAC that kept their memberships active for the 4 months prior to Burning Man will receive $200 and $100 dues discounts, respectively. These amounts will be returned along with deposits.
